ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (VIRTUAL), MAY 20 AT 7:00PM

The Canmore Skating Club will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, via Teams Video Conference from 7:00-8:00 pm.

We request that all eligible voting members attend (one parent/guardian per underage member family), as we would love to secure quorum early in the proceedings.

The order of business for the meeting will be as follows:

• Reading of the Notice of the Meeting
• Quorum
• Approval of Agenda
• Minutes of the preceding General meeting
• Confirmation of the actions taken by the Board of Directors
• Secretary’s Report
• Treasurer’s Report (Annual Financial Statement year ending August 31, 2024)
• Other Reports
  • President
  • Vice-president
  • Membership
  • Programming
  • Coach Rep
  • Assessments Chair
• Election of Board of Directors
• Amendments to the Bylaws (none to present this year)
• Appointment of two auditors
• New Business
• Adjournment

As stated in the By-laws, there will be elections of directors on a yearly basis. Positions are President, Vice-president, Secretary, Treasurer, Programming Director, Membership Director and Special Projects Director. Please consider giving your time to the administration of this wonderful club. Nominations for any position can be presented in writing (to any current Board member) up to three days prior to the AGM with no nominations being accepted from the floor.

REMINDER: END OF SEASON SCHEDULE CHANGES

This is a reminder that as we come to the end of the season and CanSkate programs have concluded, that the start times for Star/PP sessions on Mondays and Thursdays are earlier.  Please refer to the Monthly Calendar page for the latest schedule (start at 5:00).

• Monday, March 20, April 7 - Star/PP sessions runs from 5:00-6:15
• Monday, April 14 - Star/PP session runs from 3:45-5:00
• Thursday, April 3 & 10 - Star/PP session runs from 5:00-6:00
• Thursday, April 17 - Star/PP session runs from 3:45-4:45 

Then it is time for a break.  Spring programming and registration information will be available soon. Spring session runs from Sunday, May 11 to Thursday, June 26.

2025 SKATE AB/NT/NU MEMBERSHIP SURVEY

Good Afternoon Skate AB|NT|NU Clubs and Skating Schools, Officials, and Coaches:

Skate AB|NT|NU is pleased to offer a Membership Survey to gather feedback from members on the services provided during the 2024-2025 season. The Membership Survey pertains to interactions with the Section (Skate AB|NT|NU) and is tailored based on a respondent’s level of interaction with the Section Office. It will take between two and six minutes to complete (the high end for those with many/diverse interactions with the Section Office).

We encourage each Club/School, Official and Coach to complete the survey but ask that Clubs/Schools also forward an email with the Survey link to your members as we’re looking to engage as many participants as possible. The Survey link will be available via social media over the next few weeks and will remain open until Friday April 25, 2025.

CANSKATE COACH TRAINING 2025

Recently, the CSC Board Meeting passed the following motion: 

"To present to up to two Canmore Skating Club (CSC) skaters* who were registered in at least one full CSC Star/Podium Pathway program during the 2024-25 Fall/Winter season - $350 each, to assist them with the registration fee and travel expenses associated with attending a 2025 Skate Canada CanSkate Coach course.  In addition to meeting the course requirements, applicants must have volunteered for at least two CanSkate terms (e.g. Fall and Winter) as a CSC Program Assistant and provide a letter of recommendation from a CSC Coach. In return for this assistance, the recipients shall volunteer as a coach for 12 CanSkate classes during the 2025-26 skating season.

* means that skater’s home club was “Canmore SC” according to Skate Canada as of January 2025."

To apply, skaters must submit the receipt from their course registration along with the letter of recommendation from a coach. Recipients will be determined by the CSC Board of Directors as applications are received and all decisions are final."

Information on CanSkate Coach Courses in Alberta and registration requirements can be found on the Section's CanSkate Coach Courses page. There are nine courses being offered this year March thru August. The third course this year is in Calgary on May 2 & 3 and registration opens March 19, 2025. Courses fill quickly.

Please adjust your personal skating schedules to reflect the following changes on Sundays between January 19 and February 23, 2025:

Family Day/Teacher's Convention Week

February 16 - 20, 2025

• Sunday - no classes (Star/PP, Adult Group or Intro to Synchro)
• Monday - no classes (Pre-Star, Star 1-2 Group, CanSkate or Star/PP)
• Tuesday - as usual; on ice and off-ice
• Wednesday AM (7:00-8:00am) - no class
• Thursday PM
  • No Pre-Star/Star 1-2 Group
  • No CanSkate
  • Star/PP session moved to 3:45-4:45pm
