Ice Show 2026

The Canmore Skating Club's biennial Ice Show is a major undertaking both financially and in volunteer labour and as such all skaters are expected to take their involvement seriously and must agree to the following:

Fundraising

To support the show’s production quality this season’s winter fundraising commitment will go towards the show. All skaters in the show, regardless of their home club, are required to fulfill ONE Ice Show fundraising tasks.  Each task has a value of approximately $100.  Some examples are:

  • Cash donations or equipment and materials on the “List of Needs” as compiled by the Ice Show Committee.
  • Sell $250 of 50/50 tickets (link will be on CSC website shortly) to friends, family, neighbours, colleagues, etc.
  • Sell program advertising space. Quarter page is $100, half page is $200, full page is $400.
  • NOTE: There will be NO DRAW BASKETS at the show. Save this type of support for next year’s Three Sisters Fun Skate. Let’s concentrate on growing the 50/50 jackpot.

 Volunteering

Putting on a professional-level ice show is a big team effort—every skater in the show must fulfill TWO volunteer tasks! We need enthusiastic helpers for costumes, prop and set making, posters, setup/tear down, backstage support, and more. A SignUpGenius link will be shared soon.

Participation Policies

  • Skaters are expected to put in their best effort, which means being on time, paying attention to the coach and helping each other. Coaches, at their discretion, may dismiss a skater who is not showing adequate commitment to the show.
  • Skaters will attend each and every one of their scheduled rehearsals. If you must miss a rehearsal, the coach choreographing that number may excuse you in advance. More than one unexcused absence and you will be pulled from the number.
  • Casting of parts is at the complete discretion of the coaches. Coaches will work to highlight the strengths of each individual so that everyone’s best skating can be showcased.
  • Skaters are NOT permitted to be in the audience at any time during the performance. They are encouraged to watch the dress rehearsal.
  • The registration fee helps to cover the cost of rehearsal time (on and off ice), choreography and costuming, (however, most costumes will require the skater to provide some basic components, for example: black pants or beige tights.) Soloists may be asked to provide their entire costume.
  • Ice Show Volunteers ONLY are permitted backstage one hour prior to and during the performance. Dressing room volunteers will help skaters with their makeup and costumes and keep them entertained behind the scenes.
  • Fundraising in addition to that required for regular operation is necessary to put on the show. Every skater needs to help grow the 50/50 jackpot.
  • Solo choreography will be billed coaching time as per that coach’s regular fee schedule. Fee schedules or advanced notice of your potential individual invoice can be obtained from the coach involved.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will begin right after Family Day Week and will align with regular skating times whenever possible. Watch your email and the CSC website for the detailed rehearsal schedule.

NOTE: If you are asked to come to rehearse on a day that you normally do not skate, it is the discretion of the Canmore Skating Club to ask you to purchase a subsidized drop in fee, which will be invoiced to you after the show. If this extra fee is a concern, please reach out to canmoreskatingclub@gmail.com and request a discussion regarding fees. (Added to document past practices on January 14, 2026.)
