COACH DIRECTOR WANTED

The Canmore Skating Club (CSC) is looking for that special person who wishes to work (and possibly live) in one of the most beautiful areas of the province - Canmore, Alberta. We are a growing, inclusive club in need of a Skating Director who will continue to build our existing CanSkate, Pre-Star, Star and Podium Pathway programming for all skaters for years to come. Our Club offers year-round programming for private lesson skaters and Fall and Winter group programming. This position is a great opportunity to continue to develop your craft alongside an established coaching team, which includes members with national and international coaching and officiating experience. Ultimately, we are searching for a coach and director that is passionate and dedicated to the sport of skating and is looking for their chance to lead their own Club into the future.

An ideal candidate would meet the following job requirements:

       NCCP National level coaching certification in good standing with Skate Canada, at a Regional level or higher (Provincial level preferred)

       Prior experience in a director role for a figure skating club or co-ordination of group programming would be an asset.

       Have a strong familiarity with technical requirements for competitive and StarSkate skaters as well as best practices for group programming such as CanSkate. Any background as a Technical Specialist or Judge will be considered a strong asset.

      Provide a copy of your coach dashboard.

 

Roles and responsibilities are anticipated to include:

       Coordination of CanSkate, Pre-Star and all other on- ice programming

       Coordination of off-ice training activities, including continual evaluation of outside off-ice instruction and programming

       Coordination of Special Event programming with volunteer assistance

       Support and work with volunteer Club Executive, including attendance to Board of Directors meetings as required

       Perform administrative duties as required (scope of work to be negotiated)

 

Skills: 

       A strong work ethic, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work alongside an experienced and dedicated staff of full-time coaches

       Comfortable working with a wide range of athletes, from those new to skating to elite level athletes, as well as developing inclusive programming.

       Has the ability and willingness to collaborate with and be accountable to a volunteer Board of Directors.

       Demonstrated focus and commitment to helping others.

       A working knowledge of the Uplifter software platform and intermediate computer skills would be preferred, however training can be provided in this area as required.

       Ability to handle sensitive information in a professional and confidential manner.
