COVID-19 Protocols

(updated September 19, 2021)

 

Please refer to the Skate Canada: Alberta - NWT/Nunavut Return to Play Protocols and Guidelines – PHASE 3 Version 1.0 – July 1, 2021 for detailed information on how the Club will be operating as we continue to learn and train with COVID-19 in our presence.

 

Before you leave home

Stay at home and DO NOT attend session if you:

  • have any new onset (or worsening) of any COVID-19 Symptoms (Fever - take your temperature, Cough, Shortness of breath/Difficulty breathing, Loss of sense of smell or taste, etc.) or you answer "yes" to any other question on the COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist (wording updated August 2021). Then complete the Alberta Health Services COVID-19 Self Assessment Tool.
  • Are waiting for COVID-19 test results taken due to symptoms

Pre-register for your session. Drop-in requests must be sent to canmoreskatingclub@gmail.com at least 24 hours prior to the session the skater wishes to attend.

It is also extremely important to email the Club if you or someone you have been in close contact with tests positive for COVID-19 or is suspected of being COVID-19 positive.

 

Things to read/watch re COVID-19 protocols

  1. COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist - daily screening (required).
  2. SKATE-CANADA-ASSUMPTION-OF-RISK-AND-WAIVER  (required each season, print, complete and bring to first session if you have not already done so for the Canmore Skating Club).

At the arena (updated Dec 1, 2021)

The Canmore Recreation Centre has opted to operate under the Restriction Exemption Program and as such, as of October 25, anyone born in 2009 or earlier who enters the Canmore Recreation Centre will be required to provide proof of full vaccination, a negative PCR or rapid test COVID-19 result taken within 72 hours, or a medical exemption letter. Please bring one of these proofs and government issued ID to the Rec Centre to enter.

In addition, we ask you to follow the protocol below:

  • Arrive at facility no more than 15 minutes prior to scheduled session.
  • Warm up outside if possible. Maintain physical distance of 2m.
  • Masks must be worn inside the building. (Coaches will wear while teaching. Skaters do not need to wear masks during training activities.)
  • Check the screens in the lobby for the dressing rooms designated for Canmore Skating Club member use.
  • Spectators to observe from bleachers or stands and not at ice level. Some volunteers at ice level may be required for safety reasons. Spectators must wear masks.
  • Enter (and exit) the Canmore Recreation Centre through established routes and follow signs.
  • One water bottle filling station available. Try to bring your own water and water bottle and do NOT share it with anyone.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer when you enter or exit the building and on flood breaks.
  • Respect social distancing guidelines at all times. 2m on the ice and 2m inside and outside the building. Absolutely no congregating or gathering creating a group setting in or out of the facility.
  • Sign-in on the Attendance sheet.
  • Arrive no earlier than 5 minutes to the side of the rink and stay in designated area. Do not wander around the facility.
  • Leave the facility immediately following training.
  • Pre-register and pay for sessions in advance by emailing canmoreskatingclub@gmail.com at least 24 hours before the session you wish to attend. 
  • When you get home - thoroughly wash all training clothes and accessories including phones, water bottles, gloves, hard guards, blade rag, etc.
  • Sign out on the Attendance sheet (usually on the music cart).
